Get Enrolled

Once we establish the best placement for your child, they will be added either to our wait-list, if we have one, or enrolled in the appropriate services. Once enrollment is established, we will send you an enrollment packet to complete, including a basic information sheet, simple questionnaire and a reinforcement inventory. This is all needed to help us get to know your child. Please return the enrollment packet along with copies of any previous assessments (diagnostic/psychological evaluation, behavioral assessment, speech and language evaluation, occupational evaluation, IEP documents, etc.) for review prior to your child’s first day.

Secure Funding

In preparation for your child’s first day, you will need to secure funding. Insurance for ABA, Speech Therapy, and Occupational Therapy may apply.

ABA

While self-funding services is an option for some families, many find privately paying for services to be cost-prohibitive. Fortunately, health insurance is now a reality for most of our families accessing or wanting to access ABA services. On May 16th, 2017, Alabama passed a bill that requires many insurance plans to cover applied behavior analysis. Mitchell’s Place has successfully contracted and is in-network with the following health insurance companies to provide ABA services:

  • American Behavioral
  • BlueCross BlueShield
  • Beacon
  • Behavioral Health Systems
  • New Directions Behavioral Health
  • Tricare
  • United Healthcare
  • VIVA

Speech & Occupational Therapy

In preparation for your child’s first day, you will need to obtain a prescription from your child’s pediatrician and secure funding. The prescription needs to be written for speech and/or occupational therapy to evaluate and treat. Health insurance typically covers speech and occupational therapy services. Mitchell’s Place is in-network and has contracts with several common insurance carriers, but each individual’s plan is different.

If you are interested in using your Health Insurance benefits to fund your child’s services, we can help with the process. Please contact our Intake Coordinator at (205) 957-0294 for details.
