The After-School Social and Academic Enrichment Program educates children ages seven to eighteen years. The primary
focus of this program is the advancement of social
and academic skills for individuals diagnosed with
High Functioning Autism and Asperger's disorder.
The curriculum in this program is language based,
with the behavioral and occupational therapy needs
considered on an individual basis. Therapists from
the
Multidisciplinary Resource Center
will consult at the
program development level as well as on an individual
basis.
Children in the After-School Social and Academic
Enrichment Program (ASAP) also benefit from the inclusion
of typically developing peers through our Unlocking
Peer Volunteer group. Both groups of children not
only receive the obvious benefit of an enriched learning
program but also develop compassion, leadership and
ultimately true and lasting friendships.
The ASAP Program offers classes from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. every Monday through Thursday .
Summer Program
During the summer months, Mitchell's Place offers four two-week sessions for children ages 7 to 18 years that expand on the concepts of the After-School curriculum. Each session will run Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
