***NEW*** Social Skills Group
Kindergarten -1st Grade
The Theory of Mind curriculum will be used with this age group to build a foundation in social development. This curriculum is evidence-based and has proven to be beneficial in teaching children foundational executive functioning skills essential to participating effectively in social group environments. The curriculum offers practical strategies designed to target core concepts of social development through simple terminology and kinesthetic learning activities. The concepts that will be addressed include joint attention, imitation, identification, eye gaze detection, point of view, predictions, checking in, social queries, matching behavior, and self-assessment. This group will be led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and assisted by employees pursuing their Board Certification. This class will meet twice a week from 4:00p.m.-5:00p.m.
2nd – 5th Grade
The Children’s Friendship Training curriculum will be used with this age group to expand on the foundation that was built at a younger age. This curriculum is evidence-based and has proven to be beneficial in teaching children the social skills needed to establish and maintain friendships and peer relationships. It teaches the application of more complex social concepts such as peer acceptance, conversational skills, reputation, taking no for an answer, rules of a good sport, making a best friend, resisting teasing, respect toward adults, managing competition, and avoiding physical fights. Video modeling, role play, and kinesthetic learning activities will be used as teaching tools and homework will be given each week to encourage continued application of these concepts. This group will be led by a Speech Language Pathologist and assisted by an assistant teacher. This class will meet once a week from 4:00p.m.- 5:30p.m.
Requirements for Participation in each group:
Schedule: Fall Groups will begin the week of September 3rd through the week of November 26th, Spring Groups will begin the week of February 4th through the week of April 29th
Monday, 4:00-5:00p.m.: K-1st Grade
Tuesday, 4:00-5:30p.m.: 2nd-3rd Grade
Wednesday, 4:00-5:00p.m.: K-1st Grade
Thursday, 4:00-5:30p.m.:4 th-5th Grade(FULL)
The cost is $200 per month. Follow the link below to fill out the enrollment packet.
