The Interdiciplinary Diagnostic Clinic

The Interdisciplinary Assessment Clinic performs comprehensive evaluations for children and adolescents presenting signs of Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities. A team based interdisciplinary approach is utilized for evaluations in order to obtain the most comprehensive assessment possible. At Mitchell’s Place, we believe that unlocking the potential of children diagnosed with developmental disabilities begins with thorough examination of all components of development. Through interviews with caregivers and collaborative evaluation of psychological, linguistic, cognitive, sensory-motor, and social-adaptive development, a diagnosis as well as the child’s strengths and needs can be determined. This allows the Interdisciplinary Assessment Clinic team to identify the child's areas of need and recommend compensatory intervention and strategies that support development.

Evaluations are scheduled on Tuesday or Thursday mornings, in which a caregiver interview is performed, and a psychologist, speech-language pathologist, and an occupational therapist use the most current evaluation tools to conduct specialized assessments. Once the evaluations are completed, the team quickly meets with the caregivers to discuss the results of the evaluation and recommendations for intervention.

The Interdisciplinary Assessment Clinic is not only open to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, but also to individuals presenting signs of general developmental disabilities and other diagnosed conditions.
