Jan Hobbs, M.S., CCC-SLP

Jan Hobbs has worked at Mitchell’s Place since its opening in 2005, treating children diagnosed with autism and Asperger’s syndrome.  She holds an undergraduate degree in Communication Science and Disorders with a minor in deaf studies. Jan also received a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Montevallo. In graduate school, she assisted Dr. Linda Murdock with research involving social skills of children diagnosed with autism to aid in the development of a standardized social skills test. She also presented a poster at the 2004 Autism Society of Alabama conference featuring active research of outcome data for a clinical social skills group. As the first speech therapist at Mitchell’s Place, Ms. Hobbs was instrumental in developing the speech and language curriculum for the Early Learning Program.
